ABU DHABI — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made an unannounced visit to the United Arab Emirates on Sunday, September 27, meeting with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The UAE publicly confirmed the visit on Monday, September 28. According to the Emirati state news agency WAM, the two leaders discussed bilateral relations between Israel and the UAE and ways to strengthen and develop them.
Netanyahu's office said the visit took place at the invitation of the UAE president and focused on strengthening relations between the two countries and addressing regional challenges.
The meeting comes as Israel and the UAE continue relations established under the Abraham Accords in 2020. The two countries have since expanded cooperation in areas including trade, tourism and technology, while regional conflicts have created new diplomatic pressures.
Neither government announced a major agreement following the meeting. Official statements instead emphasized continued dialogue, bilateral cooperation and regional issues.
